Is the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada (The Tribunal) Secure Repository System (SRS) available at all times?
- The Secure Repository System is available at all times; however, technical support and document processing services will be available during the Tribunal’s regular business hours, Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (EST).
Who do I contact to get help?

Can I file confidential information with the Tribunal Secure Repository System?
- • Yes, the Secure Repository System is completely secure. The Secure Repository System uses technology that ensures your communications with the Tribunal are safe and protected.
What hardware and software are needed to file documents with the Tribunal Secure Repository System?
- A personal computer or tablet running a standard platform such as Windows;
- A PDF – compatible word processor text/spreadsheet program;
- Internet service;
- A web browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox or Safari;
- A scanner may be necessary to create PDF documents that are not in a Word processing text/spreadsheet format.
Which browsers are supported by the Secure Repository System of the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada (TATC)?
- The Secure Repository System has been tested for optimal use with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari.

What is an SRS profile?
- An SRS profile is a unique set of login credentials that allows you to access the Tribunal Secure Repository System.
Why do I need to register for a profile in order to use the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada Secure Repository System?
- Although you do not need to register with the Tribunal to use the Secure Secure Repository System to submit documents, you must create and register a personal SRS profile with the Tribunal E-registry to retrieve case documents served to you.
- The Tribunal has to verify and register your information before granting you access to its secure website and Secure Repository System.
- Once the Tribunal has reviewed and approved your registration, you will have full access to the Secure Repository System and an e-mail confirmation will be sent to you.
What information will I be required to enter when creating my SRS profile?
- The following information is required to create and register a personal profile:
- Salutation (for example: Mr., Ms.)
- First name (mandatory)
- Last name (mandatory)
- E-mail (mandatory)
- Address (mandatory)
- City (mandatory)
- Province or state (mandatory)
- Country (mandatory)
- Postal code or zip code (mandatory)
- Telephone number (mandatory)
- Fax number
- Law Firm name
- Company name
- Website
- Job title
- Language preference
- Recovery question
- Recovery answer
- Password
Is my personal information protected?
- Information will be used for Tribunal proceedings in a quasi-judicial context. You have the right to file a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, if you think your personal information has been handled improperly.
My information has changed, how can it be updated in the Secure Repository System?
- You can update and manage your SRS profile by clicking the UPDATE Your SRS profile button on the Secure Repository System home page and selecting Option 1 – Modify your SRS profile.
I am leaving my law firm, do I need to update my profile and inform the Tribunal?
- Yes, you must notify the Tribunal and update your SRS profile.
- If you represent a party in active cases before the Tribunal, you will need to file the required forms for each of these cases.
Can I cancel my SRS profile?
- Yes, you can delete your profile entirely by clicking the UPDATE Your SRS profile button on the Secure Repository System home page and selecting Option 2 – Remove your SRS profile.
- This action will remove the information associated with your SRS profile from the database.
Why aren’t my e-mail address and password working?
- It could be one of the following reasons:
- The e-mail address is incorrect.
- The password is case sensitive.
- Your account is locked (after 10 unsuccessful login attempts).

I have lost or can’t remember my password, what do I do?
- Click on the “Forgot password? Recover” link on the Login page. Follow the instructions to create a new password.
- You may also contact us at Registry-Greffe@tatc.gc.ca or telephone us at 613-990-6906 to obtain a temporary password.
I logged in to the Secure Repository System earlier today but now I am logged out, why?
- Inactive sessions expire after 30 minutes. You will need to login again.
Can I access the Secure Repository System with more than one browser at a time?
- No, if you try to log in using another tab in the current internet browser or using another browser while already logged in, a message will be displayed and you will need to end you previous session in order to use another browser.
SUBMITTING A DOCUMENT
How do I submit documents to the Tribunal while awaiting approval of my personal profile?
- New registered users awaiting approval should send documents to the Tribunal using the “Non-Registered User”” button on the Secure Repository System login page until their profile is approved.
Can I submit more than one document at a time?
- Yes, you can submit more than one document at a time. A confirmation page listing the documents you have submitted will be displayed, and a copy of this confirmation will be e-mailed to you.
I don’t know the case number or case name for which I want to submit documents, what should I do?
- Before submitting your documents, please refer to our website at http://www.TATC-TATC.gc.ca for more information about the Tribunal’s mandates. Select the appropriate case type and the general case number and name (for example: AP-General for Appeal Cases).

What file format should I use when transferring files to the Tribunal?
- The Tribunal requests that documents be submitted in PDF (Portable Document Format). Note: *Tribunal questionnaires are to be filed in Excel format.
This format was chosen because it allows a document to retain its pagination, formatting and fonts no matter what type of computer is used to view or print the document.

When I click on the “Attach” button, my file is not uploaded; why?
- Your filename must contain the word “public”, “protected” or “confidential”. Otherwise the document will not be added to the list of files.
I selected the wrong document to send to the Tribunal, can it be removed from the list of files?
- Yes. You can remove unwanted documents by deselecting the “Selection” check box located to the right of the file.
Clicking on the “Submit” button takes me back to the Secure Repository System web page; why?
- Some mandatory information is missing in order for your files to be transferred to the Tribunal, for example:
- o Confirmation that your documents contain public information only or contain public and confidential information;
- o Characters shown in the picture have not been entered prior to clicking on the “Submit” button.
Can I cancel my SRS transaction prior to clicking on the “Submit” button?
- Yes. Clicking the “Cancel” button will delete all information previously entered on the Tribunal Secure Repository System web page.
Is there a file size limit when submitting documents using Secure Repository System?
- Many factors may have an influence on upload times, such as your Internet connection, the size of the document, the PDF conversion format and the resolution of a scanned document.

- Large document(s) that exceeds 250 megabytes may be/need to be filed on electronic media, such as DVD or USB key. Please contact the Tribunal at 613-990-6906 or by e-mail at Registry-Greffe@tatc.gc.ca for more information or additional instructions.
When are documents considered to be filed?
- Documents shall not be considered electronically filed until you receive an online, system-generated SRS – Submit Document Confirmation.
- An e-mail confirmation will also be sent to the e-mail address provided at registration.
I made a mistake in my filing; how do I correct it?
- Contact us at Registry-Greffe@tatc.gc.ca or telephone us at 613-990-6906 during the Tribunal’s regular business hours, Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (EST).
Are any documents precluded from being filed electronically?
- Yes, physical exhibits and any documents for which Tribunal may consider that it is justified in the circumstances.
RETRIEVING DOCUMENTS
Can the general public access documents that are available for retrieval?
- No, only users who have an approved registered profile with the Tribunal and have been associated to a specific case have access to documents available for retrieval.
- Public documents on any file may be requested by members of the public at any time by contacting the Tribunal.
- In addition, counsel requiring access to confidential information related to a particular case must file the appropriate forms with the Tribunal. Do I need to register a profile to access case documents that are available for retrieval?
- Yes, a registered and approved profile is mandatory to access case documents available for retrieval on the Tribunal Secure Repository System website.
Can anyone with an approved profile access all documents on all cases?
- No, only users who have been associated to a specific case have access to documents related to that particular case.
- Access rights are assigned to users on a case-by-case basis, and only counsel who have filed the required forms with the Tribunal will be given access to public and confidential information on a certain case. How will I know when documents are available for retrieval on the Tribunal Secure Repository System website?
- When documents are made available for retrieval, an e-mail notification will be sent immediately to the e-mail address provided on your registered profile.
I selected an option to retrieve available documents but nothing happens; why?
- After your selection, you need to click the magnifier
link. The list of documents will be displayed on the page.
How do I know which documents have already been retrieved?
- If a document has already been retrieved, the button on the left side of the document name will display “Retrieved” instead of “New”.
I don’t see a “New” or “Retrieved” button on the left side of the document name in the list of documents available for retrieval; why?
- All available case documents are uploaded to the Tribunal SRS website; however, users who have access to public information only will not be able to retrieve confidential documents. The list displays all documents for information purposes only.
How long will the documents be available on the Tribunal Secure Repository System website?
- By default, all documents are available for 365 days. Once the case is no longer active or the 365 days have elapsed, documents will no longer be available on the Tribunal Secure Repository System website.
Should a document be opened or saved after clicking the “New” button?
- It is recommended that you save all documents you retrieve before viewing them. Please consult the Form III—Declaration and Undertaking (Counsel and Consultant) for additional requirements on how to save protected documents.
- Should you view a document and not save it the first time you open it, you will be able to retrieve it again. Click the “Retrieved” button located on the left side of the document name to open it again.

How does the Tribunal ensure that the Secure Repository System application guarantees the integrity of the data transmitted?
- The Secure Repository System application uses a layered suite of technologies to ensure your communications with us are safe and protected. Your business and personal information is handled with care while in transit between your computer and our server. We only use industry-standard security techniques such as the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol and encryption.
What is SSL (Secure Sockets Layer)?
- SSL is a cryptographic protocol that provides communication security over the Internet. It uses encryption to ensure that the data being exchanged between two computers cannot be read or changed in any way.
